Help:Getting around
From SCWiki
Right, this part of the site is really no different to any other website as far as browsing is concerned - click the links and you'll get to the relevant page!
One thing worth knowing is that blue links lead to pages that already exist, while red links lead to pages that don't exist. Clicking a red link will take you to a page inviting you to add the content - something we really encourage you to do.
Sidebar
On the left hand side of the page are a number of links and a search box. Here's an outline of what they do - as if you couldn't work it out on your own!
- Main Page - takes you back to the main page of the wiki
- Community portal - a home page for folk that are interested in helping out with the wiki. Well worth checking out to see what's going on.
- Current events - not much doing there. We'll probably remove this.
- Recent changes - a list of all the most recent changes that have been made to the wiki.
- Random page - er, a random page.
- Help - the help contents page.
- Donations - ScottishClimbs doesn't run on fresh air...
- What links here - a list of the pages that link to the current page - essential for getting around.
- Related changes -
- Upload file - a form for adding a file to the wiki - don't worry about that yet.
- Special pages - very special indeed! Loads of information and statistics about the wiki.
- Printable version - a nice looking version for printing out.
- Permanent link - a direct link to the version of the page you're veiwing.
Search
For the first time ScottishClimbs lets you search all of the articles on the site. All you need to do is put a word or phrase in the box and hit Search You'll be presented with a list of the best matches. Pretty simple stuff.
You can also type in the name of the page you want to go to and hit Go and it'll take you straight there. If the page doesn't exist you'll get the option to start a new one. A word of warning here: check your spelling - there's nothing worse than two pages about the same thing!
